What The Bible Says About Giving

Jesus spoke more about money than prayer and life combined.  2 Corinthians 9: 7 and 2 Corinthians 8:12   tell us to give what we can and want.  Did you know that this is the only act in which God tells us to test Him? Malachi 3:10 God says it will lead to more blessings if we trust in Him. 2 Corinthians 9:11 and Luke 6:38 tells us the act of generosity is rewarded. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, we find out that giving doesn’t just benefit others; it benefits the giver as well, 2 Corinthians 9:10.  Giving honors God, Exodus 35:22, and makes God happy when we share what we have with others, Hebrews 13:16.  The idea of giving 10% of one’s income first comes from Genesis 14:19-20, and Leviticus 27:30 explains because God gives blessings to us, we should give a portion–tithe– back to God to say thank you. Tithes and offerings should be looked upon as a  thank you to God for all the blessings He can provide to others through our contributions. In return, God sends blessings to us by showing us that generosity is a type of wealth that goes beyond financial gain.
